How do I install and set up an eSIM on my Android device?

Quick answer

On Wi-Fi, open your device's SIM settings and add an eSIM, then scan the QR code from your order or enter the activation code by hand. Afterwards, set the new eSIM as your mobile data line.

Where the setting lives

• Samsung Galaxy: Settings > Connections > SIM manager > Add eSIM.
• Google Pixel: Settings > Network & internet > SIMs > Add SIM > Set up an eSIM.
• Other Android brands: look under Settings > Connections or Settings > Network & internet for a SIM or Mobile network section.

Steps

1. Connect to stable Wi-Fi and open your installation details.
2. Go to the eSIM option for your brand using the paths above.
3. Scan the QR code, or choose to enter the activation code manually if you cannot scan it.
4. Wait for the profile to download and confirm when prompted.
5. Name the line clearly, then set it as the line for mobile data.
6. Apply the data roaming setting your package specifies for the eSIM line.

Important

Menu names vary by manufacturer and Android version, so treat the paths above as a guide rather than exact wording. Install once, on the phone you will travel with - the profile cannot be moved afterwards.
