How do I set a data limit on my Android device?

Quick answer

Android can warn you at a chosen amount of data and cut mobile data off at a hard limit. Set both on the eSIM line so your package cannot be drained without you noticing.

Steps

1. Samsung Galaxy: Settings > Connections > Data usage > Mobile data usage > the settings icon, then set a data warning and a data limit.
2. Google Pixel: Settings > Network & internet > SIMs > select the eSIM > Data warning & limit.
3. Turn on Set data warning and choose a figure below your allowance.
4. Turn on Set data limit and choose a figure at or just under your allowance.
5. Set the usage cycle start date to the day your package began, so the counter matches your package.

What to check

• Make sure you are configuring the eSIM line and not your home SIM.
• The phone counts only its own usage from the cycle start date, so it will not match the network figure exactly.
• Reaching the hard limit switches mobile data off entirely until you raise it.

Treat this as a safety net, not a precise meter. Compare it against the remaining data shown at /app/esims, and set the limit a little below your allowance rather than exactly at it.
